Katherine Ellis is one of dance music’s most respected and versatile singer songwriters. A mainstay of the genre past and present, Katherine has been making records since 1990 with various Producers. She is currently performing extensively throughout the World with her vast back catalogue including the huge recent club hits ASBO’s ‘Let The Beat Hit ‘Em’ and Wilder & Clarke’s ‘Stand Up’, both released on the Hed Kandi label in 2007, Lost by Roger Sanchez as well as the anthem ‘Make A Move On Me’ by Joey Negro. From 1997 to 2000 Katherine was the vocalist for chart toppers The Ruff Driverz, singing ‘Deeper Love’, ‘Don’t Stop’, ‘Shame’ and the monster smash ‘Dreaming’, which incidentally she also wrote the Spanish topline for. Katherine has recorded with some of the biggest names in dance music including The Freemasons, The Soul Avengerz, Dave Lee (in all his guises!) and Roger Sanchez, and on a more underground tip, collaborations with Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, Lee Coombs and Tom Stephan. 2008 is shaping up to be an extremely busy period for Katherine. Releases include ‘Nothin goin’ on but the rent’ with 7th Heaven (Hard2Beat), ‘Gotta get through’ with Paul Emanuel & Gav McCall (Born to Dance), ‘One luv’ with The Soul Avengerz (Milk & Sugar/One Love Recordings), ‘Poza (Got what I need)’ with Countparis (Eyezcream), ‘Do it’ with DJ Prom (GFab) as well as ‘Laisser toucher’ with Cerrone (Maligator Productions) which also happens to feature twice in the French movie ‘Disco!’ due out in April. Katherine is also the third member of the band Bimbo Jones, who are signed to Tommy Boy Records. Their debut album is due out later this year preceded by the release of their single ‘And I try’. She is an energetic live performer who delivers her heart and soul in person just as easily as she does on the records you buy! Any stage she steps upon is followed moments later by rapturous applause as the audience fall under her spell which is a unique blend of uplifting, vocal house. Since she was 15 she’s been in bands as a lead and background vocalist, as part of a duo and as a solo Artist. Katherine’s touring credits include that of working with the likes of Belinda Carlisle, Chaka Khan, Boy George and Roger Sanchez. An extremely talented writer, she writes a majority of her own material including ‘Insatiable’ by Mark Knight, ‘Fascinated’ by Raven Maize and ‘Getting Into You’ by W.O.S.P. She also writes for other Artists including ‘If You Wanna/Salsoul Nugget’ by M&S Presents The Girl Next Door, ‘All Night’ by Montilla and ‘Dancing In The Dark’ by 4Tune 500.
